pen 42: pilot v razor point extra fine

the pilot v razor point is the the plastic tipped version of yesterday's v ball, its simple, cheap, and effective.

at a little under $2 a pen (less in bulk) these pens can lay down considerable amounts of ink, making it an ideal pen for filling black spaces or with any of the seven additional color options. the tip is classified as extra fine, but the detail work probably should be left to better quality pens, unless you're working on a large format, then you should be fine. the ink color is rich, but it does bleed and extended pressure and applications quickly soak through... bummer. also, the tip isn't the strongest, i would say it's somewhere in between prisma and micron, it gives a little too much under pressure for it to be a pen that i would keep in my pen survival desert island kit... yes, i have one.

should you consider this pen? i would say for the money you would be spending, it might be a good idea to invest a little more and get a better quality pen, if you want something that does the job and you don't want to burn through a higher quality pen, go for it.

I love the expression on this guy's face... and the way the pen filled in his jacket. It looks like a rather thick line, more similar to a think marker...
