pen 99: uniball vision elite

today i am going to talk about the uni-ball vision elite. this is the fancier version of the uni-ball vision that i reviewed a little over a month and a half ago.

the vision elite comes in three different models, the regular, the designer and the blx ink versions. the first two are essentially the same pen, except for cosmetic differences and that the designer is available only in black and bold tip while the regular comes in eight different colors and micro and bold tips. the blx is similar to the regular model as well save that the ink used is a dark ink that is infused with color and comes in five different color options.

these pens are favorites among most of the people i know, my mother, for example carries these around everywhere and uses little else. these pens are good for writing, drawing, inking, all around a good pen. the few things i noticed about these pens is that the ink takes a few seconds longer than most inks, and that can be a little messy. these pens have good bite, fairly consistent flow, the bold tips lay down a fair amount of ink while the micro tip almost seems to be running out of ink, you can get good detail with these while inking, but i found that i had to make several passes with the pen before i was happy with the saturation.

these pens are available at most stores, and come with a higher price tag, these pens are a little expensive, amazon has a four pack going for around $12 and staples sells a 12 pack for nearly $30. while these pens are reliable, there are cheaper pens out there, but these pens are of good quality and they look nice as well. ultimately i am going to say that these pens fall into that mid category that is: "they are nice but it's your call..." i would use one for sure but i don't think i am going to buy any more in the foreseeable future. these are pens that really come down to personal prefrence, if you happen to love them go ahead and buy em - if you are indifferent (like me), maybe your money could be better spent.
